On this St. Patrick’s Day, as we celebrate Ireland’s rich heritage, culture, and identity, it’s a fitting moment to reflect on the voices that helped shape it.
William Rooney—writer, nationalist, and passionate advocate for Irish culture—held ideals around language, identity, and independence that still resonate today.
This connection is also deeply personal for me, as William Rooney was my grandmother’s uncle, making his legacy an important part of my own family history.
The photos shared here are from the unveiling of a memorial plaque in 2024 at 23 Leinster Street, Dublin, where he lived and died:https://www.blackholestudio.ie/william-rooney
