Quantum of Chaos

Dadaism emerged as a response to the horrors of World War I and sought to reject conventional artistic norms. Quantum of Chaos establishes a 21st century alternative MaMaism, which similarly aims to challenge traditional  structures, forms, and aesthetics, questioning the very essence of what constitutes our world. It is a critique of cultural and social norms highlighting the absurdities of contemporary culture and the contradictions within societal structures.

Sie War Nicht Hier Seit Lange...

The primarily music ensemble embrace absurdity, irrationality, and chance serving as a platform for musicians to create music that defies logical coherence, incorporating nonsensical lyrics, disjointed melodies, and unpredictable rhythms (see below).

However, in parallel are a number of films such as Sie war nicht hier seit lange..., a parable about the reality of people in palaces.

Rule 11

An  educational video on Russell's Paradox in Set Theory. Friedrich Ludwig Gottlob Frege, a German philosopher, logician, and mathematician essentially reconceived the discipline of logic by constructing a formal system. It was later proved by Bertrand Russell that one of his axioms proved to be inconsistent. The video presents the paradox in an alternative way.

Quantum of Chaos encourage collaboration across artistic disciplines and will collaborate with visual artists, performance artists, poets, and dancers to create immersive, multi-sensory experiences that transcend the boundaries of traditional artistic forms. We are currently working with Marion Stern on her Soul Song exhibition.  An amalgamation of the visual arts & music. A first of it’s kind playable exhibition will create an environment encouraging anyone to pick up the instruments and play - even if they are not musicians themselves - and have an immense impact on the creative process. The Role of Quantum of Chaos is to celebrate creative freedom and spontaneity. The ensemble will provide a space for musicians to experiment freely, embracing improvisation, unconventional instrumentation, and innovative performance techniques without the constraints of traditional musical conventions. We aim to provoke and challenge the audience.

We seek to disrupt expectations, provoke emotional responses, or even incite controversy through unconventional performances, pushing boundaries and forcing audiences to confront preconceived notions of music and art.  We see chaos and chance as fundamental elements of creativity. The ensemble will explore aleatoric techniques, such as randomisation or improvisation based on predetermined rules, to embrace the unpredictable and chaotic nature of existence.
