Last Saturday, 7th May, saw the StartLab on Eyre Square host the first Game Development Expo in Galway where Black Hole Studio showed a very basic prototype of their first ever game which we are currently working on. This is a new direction for the business combining our skills in multi-media to create a new and innovative style of game.
The event ran over four hours and was full of visitors throughout the afternoon looking to find out the new games that Irish game makers have in development. From young to old they were all excited to see and play new titles such as Darkside Detective (Spooky Doorway), Goblins & Grottos (Goblin Portal, Psychic Software), Sub Species (Howling Hamster) and Radical Racers (Danger Noodle Games) a start-up who are only coming to the end of their Computer Gaming course at Pulse College, Galway to name just a few.
The event also displayed images from artists who are slowly establishing their credentials in the gaming community with work from Ruth Campion and David Cummins on show. The event shows the importance of hosting such a get-together as even the legendary John and Brenda Romero of Romero Games attended with a new title called 'Gunman Taco Truck'
